Gratefulness Journal: 9 December 2021

I am going to keep this one short and try not to get too profound, since I need to save my time for researching for my paper and my profundity for outlining my paper.

Things I am grateful for (a numbered list):

  1. Having relative say in my work schedule, which today meant cancelling my office hours and sleeping in after so many late nights in a row in the library.
  2. THE RAIN!!! MY FAVORITE WEATHER (among many other favorites lol. Most weather is my favorite weather, and this time of year, the rain is my favorite!).
  3. An excuse to wear my christmas gifts from last year— a Columbia down jacket from my mom and a north face rain jacket from my brother. My wardrobe is so oriented for the PNW despite having lived in SoCal for all but 3 months of my life.
  4. And the free car wash straight from the heavens. I can finally see out of my read windshield again.
  5. The abundance of avocados given to my roommate and my teammate. The only bread I have right now is blueberry bagels but they made a surprisingly good combination with avocado slices, S + P, and cheese for lunch today.
  6. An unexpected visit with KATRINA my old roommate, at her work! It was so good to catch up. I missed that good human bean.
  7. The very compassionate and patient UESC employee who helped explain the specifics of my FAFSA to me.
  8. And my very patient mother who helped me fill out FAFSA over the phone.
  9. The chance to relax in class today, simply watching the second half of a movie based on a book we all loved.
  10. The assistant to my athletic trainer who stayed late today so I could get through all my exercises.
  11. The Good stationary bike in the athletic trainers (and the ability to bike without pounding weight room music).
  12. Remnants of today’s sunset past the parking lot— beautiful waves of clouds with oranges and pinkish tints in between. Subtle, but beautiful almost because of its modesty. A sweet little blessing.
  13. Mantra Coffee, and Past Marian who’s probably spent hundreds of dollars there. So worth it for the free dirty chai I got tonight (yay for rewards points!).
  14. My WONDERFUL friend Aleia who called me tonight and talked about so many interesting things with me on the phone. This conversation was literally the highlight of my day. ˙ᵕ˙
  15. The random girls sitting near me in the coffee shop who were so funny to interact with every time we accidentally overheard / eavesdropped on each other. Lol. I don’t think either of us minded.
  16. The incredible omelet I packed for dinner— leftover Brussel sprouts, green beans, cheese, avocado. Simple and easy, but nutritious and surprisingly delicious!
  17. Marshburn library, my home away from home this semester. If I could go back in time and give any advice to my freshman self, it would be to go to the library. It’s actually one extremely productive place. (I’m amused that I didn’t discover this until my final weeks of my final semester full-time, but I am grateful nonetheless for this study area!).

It’s amazing what good weather, good food, and patient faculty and staff can do for a person’s day. Huge pick-me-up from yesterday which was hard (yet even that tough one offered me so much to be grateful for!). Now, it’s time to return to my 10-page paper that’s due tomorrow at midnight! I am grateful for deadlines, because otherwise I would continue putting this off for the rest of my life!

Thank you Lord, for all your blessings! Amen & good night (but not really because I will be writing until the early hours of the marnin’). ✌
